Knowing What Caravan Blinds Best Suit You
Those who consider their caravans as their homes are aware that there are several caravan blinds out in the market. These blinds vary in terms of size and shape. Some of the types of blinds for caravans are the sun blinds, the rolling blinds, and the slated blinds. However, tinted windows are also widely regarded as an effective alternative to blinds.
SLATED BLINDS are not only easy to install, but also very reasonably priced. One good thing about these blinds is its ability to let light to come in although they are shut. However, it has been said that these blinds can easily break. In buying these blinds, get the ones that are at least graded average so that they can stay with you for a long time.
Meanwhile, caravan rolling blinds have the ability to move upwards and downwards. These are commonly made of vinyl and an aluminum core. These blinds used to block the sun from penetrating inside the caravan completely, but these days, they are made to serve as a shade that can still enable you to clearly look out the window.
Finally, SUN BLINDS resemble the old style type of curtain. These blinds are still commonly seen and used in Europe. They are also the most affordable blinds. These are the blinds that are hung on a rod which are then attached on one of the sides of the window.
If you are not for any of these caravan blinds, you may as well get your caravan windows tinted. The good thing about tinted windows is that you can see the outside while nobody can see you inside. Window tints can be used either by itself or together with one of the kinds of blinds. Keep in mind, however, that in some states, it is not allowed for cars to have very dark window tints.
Check Out Caravan Awnings
If you have just spent tens of thousands of dollars on a new Caravan you will be interested in getting a good set of awnings to allow you to enjoy both the comforts of you vehicle and the outside as well. There are a number of considerations however when you are shopping for Caravan covers to make sure you get the best one for your needs.
How much do you Caravan awnings weigh? This is an important consideration because the weight can affect both the integrity of the Caravan itself if too heavy of an awning is used which can damage the attachment points and the weight can also affect your gas mileage in a time when fuel prices are so high.
Are your Caravan awnings both water proof and breathable? You want to be able to protect your family and guests from the weather and at the same time allow plenty of airflow in the area. A great fabric is Gortex, which gives you all the features you need.
You must decide if you want to cover not only an outside family area but the windows of the Caravan itself. Using covers over the window will reduce you energy use when you are trying to keep the inside cool.
Finally there is price. If you just bought a new Caravan the price of awnings will seem insignificant. The thing is though a complete set of awnings, with zippered doors and complete screening and window awnings can add up to a good bit of money.
These awnings will extend the ways you can use your new Caravan. By protecting an area outside of the vehicle you are effectively extending the size and living area of your vehicle. This will also increase the resale value of it along with improving it for you and your family.
Little Known Techniques to use when Installing Fans
When installing a ceiling fan there are certain things you can do to help it go quicker in addition there are little tricks that will help your installation be successful. One of the first things you should look at is the mounting brackets. If you had an existing fan in place then you will want to try to use the existing brackets rather than taking the old ones down and putting new ones up. If you are required to use the new mounting brackets you can often keep the old brackets in place and put the new brackets right over the old brackets allowing you to use the existing holes to help mount your fan. This can save allot of time and you wont waste your time making sure you hit the board or rafter that it should be mounted to.
If you have ever seen a fan rock back and forth it can be intimidating and a little nerve racking to sit under. In addition, if you have a fan that is designed to allow for a little rocking you can take some simple precautions to make sure it stays tight and does not make noise when the fan is running. When I recently installed a ceiling fan with a heater I used a trick where I placed the fan to the ceiling and lightly drew a circle around the fan so it I could see it on the ceiling when I removed the cover. I thing pulled out all the mounting screws and put them in the existing holes in preparation to mount the fan. However, before mounting the fan you should get a caulking gun with clear caulk and calk around the hole you lightly traced on the ceiling. When you place caulk on the ceiling it helps create a seal along with helping keep the fan in place. The seal will help keep the fan quiet and prevent any little bugs from crawling up in the hole and dying. Since you already have the screws in place you can lift up and one by one thread each screw individually until the fan is hanging by all the screws. You want to make sure the fan is balanced so you turn every other screw until the fan fits snugly to the ceiling. Do not over turn the screw as this will cause problems with the ceiling drywall breaking off over a long period of time.
What Are Vacuum Toilets?
One of the many types of toilets available in the market today is the vacuum toilet. Instead of using gravity and water in dumping wastes like most traditional kinds of toilets, vacuum toilets use vacuum in flushing wastes. Vacuum toilets also dump the waste in sewer systems, wherein vacuum helps to flush out the waste, using less water in the process. Vacuum toilets are predominantly seen in airplanes, but recently homes and boats have also applied their use.
Vacuum toilets work quite simply. The toilet is connected into a vacuum sewer consisting of either one sewage tank or several sewer lines. When the toilet is flushed, the flushing action results to the opening of a valve, with the vacuum sucking the waste for treatment. Because the vacuum action is extremely powerful, there is little water needed in flushing the wastes, unlike in other types of toilets like dual flush and flush up toilets. Vacuum toilets may use sanitizing liquid detergent to maintain hygiene in the toilet bowl. Given the water efficient use of vacuum toilets, it is not surprising that many homeowners are now turning to this type of toilet for their homes.
There are rumors that flushing a vacuum toilet while seated on the bowl can cause damage on the intestines but these have been dispelled by experts. Vacuum toilets are slowly becoming a popular toilet alternative for common toilet types, like flush up toilets which are known for being hygienic and dual flush toilets which are notable for being efficient in the use of water.
Related to vacuum toilets is the pressurized toilet, which makes use of pressurized water in flushing wastes. Similar to vacuum toilets, pressure toilets need limited water in removing away solid and liquid wastes. Pressurized toilets may be linked to a sewer system and are often used in offices and homes. Many companies hoping to reduce water consumption use pressure assist systems, which are connected to conventional toilets to promote the efficient use of water.
Choosing the Right Style Roman Blinds
Roman blinds are sure to add a touch of class to any house. Many people buy them to either enhance the view from the window, to give their room a Mediterranean look or feel to it, or simply because it is fairly economical to get good quality roman blinds at a much cheaper price than you would pay for good curtains. They generally use quite a bit less fabric than regular curtains, which often need at least double the amount of material in order to have them hang properly with pleats.
When choosing Roman blinds you need to not only pay close attention to the color but also to the type of fabric they are made from. Make sure that it goes well with your existing furniture, and that it also matches the surrounding walls. When choosing curtain colors a great tip is to look around your room and match the color of the curtains with some of your other decor items. For example, if you have paintings on the wall, try to choose a color that exists in the wall hanging. This will give a sense of continuity to the surroundings and it also makes it much easier to coordinate the other items in your room as well.
Keeping Roman blinds clean and in good condition is also fairly simple, as you can vacuum them with the brush part of your vacuum cleaner every so often. It is a good idea, if you can, to look for blinds made from machine washable fabric as these are generally much easier to take care of and they can be quickly laundered if they get soiled.
If you are looking for something that is not only easy to install, but also easy to care for, you should consider buying ready made Roman blinds. They really are great value for money, and with the wide choice available it is easy to find something that will suit your existing decor.
Don’t Buy Just Any 12V Transformer For Low Voltage Lighting
Just as you need to get the right spare part when you replace the fan belt on your car, you also need to make sure you have the right 12v transformer for your low voltage lighting project. Some won’t work as well as you had intended – and some just plain won’t work at all! Here is how to find out if you are looking at right one.
If you are even considering putting a lighting system together yourself, it is probably safe to assume that you know a little bit about electricity to begin with. You know that you first need to figure out what kind of light you want – and how much – and then find out what sort of light source will get the result you are looking for. When you know that much, you are about ready to find a transformer. If the light bulbs you have chosen run on 12v, then obviously you need a 12v transformer. You also know what its minimum power rating must be – because you know how many bulbs you will be using, as well as how much each of those use. Five bulbs at 50 watts means you need at least 250 watts of power from a transformer – another 50 watts of headroom would not hurt either. You may also have decided that you want to be able to dim the light – in which case you will need a dimmable transformer. Not all transformers can do this, so make sure you get the right one.
One last thing to be aware of – do your lightsources require AC or DC voltage to work? AC is the most common with incandescent and halogen light – mains voltage is an AC voltage – but some bulbs can run on DC, which has its advantages, like less consumption of power and the ability to run off batteries. Keep this in mind also when shopping for transformers, and you can’t go all wrong.
Make Your Own Fixed Projector Screen Using White Polywall
Many people have successfully used polywall, bought at Lowes or Home Depot, for their fixed projector screen. While it does require a few carpentry talents to make the frame for your screen, unless you nail it directly to the wall, it is relatively easy to build and very cheap as well. Polywall is slightly translucent however, and a fraction of light passes through it though this should not be a problem if you are using a modern projector as they are generally brighter than they need to be.
Your first step in making your new screen is to measure how large you want it to be and then to locate the polywall. White works well with most projectors, although if you need a grey to bring the colors out you may need to invest in some white paint, add a little grey coloring to it, and then paint the polywall before constructing the fixed projector screen. Test it first before painting, as depending on the type of projector you use you may find that you do not need to paint it at all. If you do need to paint it, look for white with a silver tint. If you do not want to paint the polywall, another idea is to fix the sheets to a black surface. This can be easily done by painting a piece of plywood with black paint and then fixing the polywall to that.
The matt side of the polywall should face out and be the image surface. Build your frame from wood that will not bend and then attach your polywall to it. The simplest way to attach it is by using a staple gun, it usually works quite well and is fairly sturdy. You will need staple all the way around the board in order to secure it well. Once that is done, all that you need do is find something to run around the border to give the impression of black framing. Most people choose a black felt material, as that is traditionally used for these types of screens.
If you cannot locate polywall in your area other alternative materials you can use are Durotherm panels or Sintra sheets. The procedure for making fixed projector screens using these other materials would be the same.

Maintaining Your Water Heater
A water heater is an appliance in the home which can actually cost you quite a bit of money each year if not properly maintained. Water heaters make hot water available by keeping a tank full of water heated even when not in use. Water heaters are notorious for breaking down; however, many of these breakdowns could be avoided by simply keeping the unit properly maintained. Doing so will save you the expense of having to call a local plumbing company to handle the problem for you.
The average temperature of the water in a water heater should be around 120 degrees. Keeping the temperature set higher than this is usually not necessary. This only results in causing your water heater to work more than it needs to and can shorten its life span.
Also, another thing which can shorten the lifespan of your water heater is sediment in the bottom of the tank. Over time, minerals and other sediment will accumulate in the bottom of your water heater. Occasionally flushing this material out you can keep the water heater working efficiently and lasting longer. There should be a drain in the bottom of the water heater which will allow you to place a bucket underneath this drain and siphon off some of the water. This will help flush some of the sediment out with the water from the bottom of the tank.
An insulated hot water tank blanket can also be a good idea. This can help increase the lifespan of your water heater by keeping the tank better insulated and avoiding heat loss. This heat loss will cause the water here to work more than it needs to to keep the water at the desired temperature. These insulated blankets will often pay for themselves within the first year through increased efficiency.
Follow these simple tips and you should experience an increase in the lifespan of your water heater. Just remember to keep the temperature set low and utilize an insulated water heater blanket. Also, partially drain the water heater at least once a year.
Saving Money on a Professional Plumber
Hiring a professional plumber in Atlanta, GA or anywhere else can often be an expensive proposition. Many consumers have no idea what a plumbing job should cost and many plumbers will take advantage of this. However, there are a few ways in which you can save money when hiring a professional plumber. Simply by getting quotes, buying parts yourself, and checking local regulations you can save yourself a little money when required to hire a plumber.
No matter what kind work you are getting done you should always obtain several quotes. It is not enough to simply get an overall price for a job to be completed. No two plumbers are like and each will be completing the job in a different manner. Always ask what the job entails and get a detailed list of the pricing for each function. This will allow you to break each quote down and possibly negotiate with the plumber.
Many plumbers will automatically buy parts for you and charge you full price. You may be able to buy parts cheaper yourself. Many plumbers will be happy to use the parts you supply as long as they are the correct parts for the job. Plumbers are not in the business of shopping for the best price for your benefit. They typically get their parts were they are the most convenient for them. This may lead to higher prices which are then passed on to the customer.
Finally, if your plumbing job is quite extensive you may want to check with local regulations to make sure you are within the code. It could be a costly mistake to give a plumber the go-ahead to dig up water lines and do repair work only to find out later that the work was not done correctly and must be redone. Simply doing a little checking in the beginning may save you a lot of money in the long run.
